Hi there!

I'm Linda Hall

I’m a cultural anthropologist specializing in immigration, race & ethnicity, Science and Technology Studies, and Latin American (Andean) regional cultural development.

I’m also the founder of Nneka Publications Initiative, specializing in undergraduate and graduate mentoring.

My first book “Three Rivers Crossed” is the result of my lifelong research. This book is a journey through the 20th century, a time of war, death, and revolution. And yet, amidst all that upheaval, it was also a time when black people struggled to save their children from the confusion of their experience in a nation undergoing such tumultuous change.

This book is an exploration of literacy, diversity, and social justice. It tackles racial and ethnic differences to analyze the social dynamics of the Black Diaspora.

What Readers are Saying

I recommend this book to people who want to be inspired by a life of a person who lived through these events and despite them, has thrived and become a wonderful, professional person. This book is just a piece of the real world in which all of us live; it is worthwhile to read it and to evaluate the results of the Civil Rights movement by looking at the present life of Linda, the author.

I got hooked on this book. I am from Pittsburgh where the 3 rivers meet and this book took me back to my childhood there. I loved that the book was in short chapters. I could not put the book down. It is refreshing to see how even success can come out of a life filled with trials and tribulations!

The story of a child overcoming adversity is incredible. I would recommend this book to anyone. It illustrates the depth of character of the writer as well as the deep well of courage, tenacity and discipline that is the story of so many Americans; regardless of race. The illustrations are magnificent as well; in fact I am a big fan of the illustrator!

Three Rivers Crossed is a celebrated examination of the good intentions and needless secrets surrounding an unwanted birth and a cleverly woven heroic tale of the molding of a mid-20th century Afro-American female confronting the American Dream.

The buildings that comprised Linda Jean Hall’s childhood no longer exist, but the small enclave is forever memorialized in the memoir as the tale of the Village, an Afro-American enclave of southern migrants immersed in an ethnically diverse neighborhood on the northwest side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
